Y’all! I’m extra excited to share this one! This renovation has literally changed my life and I’m only being a little bit dramatic. About a year and a half ago, we moved and this laundry renovation has been at the top of the list of to-dos since day one at the new casa. Finally, the space has come together. I’m not doing laundry in the garage anymore… and for that, we are rejoicing and have a much larger amount of clean clothing around here.
This room started out as a REALLY blank slate. The previous owner had a sauna in the space that didn’t really fit our vibe and she took with her when she moved– leaving a utility room downstairs that didn’t have a purpose other than collecting junk. The Laundry was located in the garage which is not conducive to actually getting laundry done when it seems like here in SC we are in the midst of an endless summer that is sure to head straight into a frigid winter - So, we thought this was the perfect use for our weird little sauna-less sauna room.
Every laundry room needs art, right? I say yes- so I pulled some vintage pieces and mixed in some other art from The Campbell Collective so round out the space – like the blue collage that’s from a collection releasing next month with Allison Ford!
There was a perfect sized nook the washer and dryer slipped right into after plumbing and vents were added and then my handyman added a butcher block top on top for a folding surface. Teresa Roche wallpaper energizes the space like only TR wallpaper can and all the other surfaces went white along with blue hex tile replacing the layers of linoleum.
We had some new cabinet doors added to a little closet that’s under the stairs and got a pin board to hang up memories and some “you can do it” motivational quotes to inspire one more load of towels to cross the finish line.
Just in time for adding laundry from one more human to the mix we pulled the project through! This space is proof that having a happy space to do laundry is a game-changer.
