• 'My Favorite Room' | January 2021

It took us a few weeks to accomplish this New Year's resolution but we are finally checking it off the list! After its recent feature in TALK magazine, we decided it was high time to share a space we had the pleasure of bringing to life last year! After living in their home for a while, saving the funds, and wrapping their minds around what they needed out of their kitchen/living spaces, our clients were finally ready to take on a renovation of these most-used spaces.

We needed to take 3 closed off spaces (kitchen, dining, & living) and make them more functional for entertaining. The clients were able to accomplish this by widening the cased opening between the living room and the kitchen / dining room and removing a columns / half-wall situation from the middle of the kitchen. We love how the opening helps define the spaces opposed to a conventional open floor plan while still allowing the fluidity they were aiming for.

Keeping things bright in the kitchen with intentional, saturated color combined with brass finishes really set the stage for some fun in the living room! In order to avoid closing off a space that we *just* opened up, we decided to use two pairs of chairs opposed to another sofa. To keep things interesting, we pulled in two graphic patterns for the chairs, layering looser patterns on top. Art and accessories really made this room come to life but the biggest game changer was switching out the mantle and fireplace surround with a sleeker yet timeless design.

We feel so grateful that TALK chose to feature this space because we have truly been so excited to share how this project came together! When we were designing these spaces way back at the end of 2019, we had no idea how important these rooms would become in the coming year and we are thrilled to be able create an open space for our clients to soak up time with their fam! If you haven't had a chance to pick up your copy, scroll to see the gorgeous feature!
