They say the kitchen is the heart of the home so when it comes to renovations in the kitchen you gotta do it right! Way back in 2015 when I first started working with these particular clients, the kitchen was definitely on the wish list but the timing was off. Fast forward a few years and it was finally time to bring the space out of the early 2000's.
The last thing you want to do when you renovate is take a dated room and slap a big ol' "MADE IN 2020" stamp on top of it. In an effort to keep the design timeless, we aimed for crisp and classic. White cabinets, white macaubas quartzite, and gold accents on the hardware / lighting established that timeless foundation to build upon with color in accents (i.e. custom barstools + a blue hued island) and patterned tiles for an impactful backsplash.
You may have noticed by the quirky, yet adored, 'art window' that no walls were actually taken down for this renovation. With a dream team of contractors they were able to add the island the clients had always wished for by eliminating a curved 'peninsula' that was hogging way too much valuable space. Not to mention, we gained a ton of storage by scrapping an awkward and dysfunctional corner pantry and adding several floor to ceiling cabinets.
We couldn't be more pleased with how this space turned out! Back in 2016 when we designed our clients' living space, we added some new pendants and accessories to freshen up the original kitchen because sometimes you do what you gotta do to make the most of what you're given, but oh how fun it is when you get to help transform a kitchen (or really any room!) into a space that not only meets the clients' needs but also speaks to their vision and personality!
